Categories
- Missing Person
- An adult or juvenile that is missing from their residence by unknown means.
- Family Abduction
- A minor who is believed to have been taken by a family member, such as a parent, who does not have legal custody and/or a legal right to take the child
- Juvenile Runsaway
- A minor missing under circumstances which indicate that he or she left voluntarily
Types of Missings
- Endangered Missing
- A minor (under the age of 18) missing who does not qualify as an Endangered Runaway, a Family Abduction, or a Non-Family Abduction, OR an adult (age 18 or over) who has a medical condition, and/or who is missing under circumstances that indicate that he or she may be in danger.
- Juvenile Runaway
- A minor missing under circumstances which indicate that he or she left voluntarily.
- Family Abduction
- A minor who is believed to have been taken by a family member, such as a parent, who does not have legal custody and/or a legal right to take the child.
- Lost/Injured Missing
- A person of any age missing under circumstances that strongly indicate they had an accident that caused their disappearance, or that they became lost in a wilderness area. Foul play is not suspected in these cases. Most probable suicides are included; people who wandered away as a result of mental illness or dementia are not included.
- Missing
- An adult missing with no reported evidence to indicate that he or she is in danger.
- Non-Family Abduction
- A minor who is believed to have been abducted by a non-family member.
- Catastrophe Victim
- A person missing during a situation such as a natural disaster like a tornado, or man made situation such as a bombing.
