Search continues for missing camper on Mount Hood
ROARING CREEK, Ore. - Search teams continue to look for a missing camper in the area of Rock Lakes near Mount Hood.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team responded to the area on Sunday after Michael Bissell reported his brother, Robert Bissell, missing. It's the third consecutive day of search, according to investigators. Search crews are expanding the search to additional trails, nearby lakes, streams and wilderness area possibly traveled by Bissell. Aircraft have flown the area in search patterns the last two days and are on standby today for further operations, said Sgt. James Rhodes, a Clackamas County Sheriff's spokesman. Robert, 57, of Washington, went up to the Roaring Creek area July 12 for a fishing and camping trip, but Michael couldn't find him on a July 19 check. Michael went back on Saturday, but nothing had changed at Robert's campsite, prompting the search launch Sunday. Investigators say Robert is an experienced outdoorsman, and is familiar with the area. Bissell's 1989 Nissan Sentra was located at the Shell Rock Lake Trailhead, Trail #700 in the Mount Hood National Forest. Mr. Bissell's campsite was located off Trail #512 in the Rock Lakes basin of the Mount Hood National Forest. Bissell's hair and beard are gray in color and longer than depicted in the attached photo. Anyone who has had personal contact with Mr. Bissell in this remote area since July 12th 2010 please contact the Clackamas County Sheriff Tip Line at (503) 723-4949. Posted on 27 Jul 2010 by Barry
